The service wasn't great, we asked for a booth on our reservation indicating it was a special date. We got seated after a 15 minute wait in the middle of the restaurant and were rushed by our waiter. Jasper himself came out to visit friends of his that were at a table next to us and they talked rather loudly, making our conversation hard to hear even though we were side by side.
Very good but not quite up to the hype. When comparing it to some of the other local Italian restaurants it comes out about equal. I got the Invitini Chicken and though good was spiced so heavily it drowned out the chicken. My wife got the Catalonni and it was excellent with just the right mix to taste every part. Service was average. Would go back but also would opt for one of the closer Italian restaurants.
I got Chicken Parmesan and my fiance got the Marco Polo Dinner. The chicken was underseasoned and tasted like it had been sitting for a while. His pasta and sauce were piping hot which only made us think it had been microwaved. The desserts come out on a cart like in the 80's and by that point in our meal we just wanted to leave.
Every time I go here I am disappointed. People in KC seem to love this place which makes me wonder if I'm the only one that doesn't get good service here. The first time we went was for our anniversary.
This used to be our favorite Italian restaurant. It's still good, just not as good as it used, especially in terms of consistency. But when they are having a good night, it's really really good. I love the sausage and potatoes, but last time I went the two links of sausage were overcooked and ruined the dish - and having the waiter debate the dish quality with you is frustrating. I always root for local businesses and really HOPE Jasper's can maintain the level of quality that has made it a local legend.
Excellent service, excellent food, they make mozzarella at the table if you order it. Amazing dessert choices. No kids menu but they offer traditional spaghetti with meatballs or meat sauce so it works well. Entrees come with a house salad. Large portions!
Maybe it's our food choices, but for the meantime it's middle of the road at best.
We wanted to try something new for our anniversary dinner and decided on Jasper's! It was a wonderful experience with fantastic service, food, and atmosphere. Ellie did a great job as our server and Jasper himself even came out and talked to us twice to see how everything was going! I highly recommend eating here!!!
Everyone online loves this place so we thought it was just a bad experience so we decided next time to try the deli. I got the Fat Marco Polo, it was over-toasted and you could cut your mouth on the bread. It was dry even though it had garlic butter and was bland and only tasted like salt. He got the Italian Hero which had similar problems.
