Good place for runners. Could more shoe brands.
I have had numerous injuries over the years which have caused me to avoid running because of the pain. I have stuck with one type of shoe because it was always available in my size and it felt good. Someone suggested the Running Well Store. I entered and was immediately greeted and helped. I was put on a treadmill which video recorded my feet as a ran. The staff analyzed my feet as they made contact with the treadmill. Based on the analysis, it was recommended I used a "zero drop" shoe. I tried several shoes and decided on the "Altra". For the first time in 7 years, I ran 2 miles with no knee or calf pain!!!! The next day there was still no pain from running. I can not say enough good about their staff and how accurately they provided me with the shoe to fit my running style. I came out of the store paying $120 for a pair of shoes, a little more than I have been paying, but I am pain free and in love with running again.
I love this running store! My shoe buying experience is usually either Amazon, or some similar online experience. My mileage is going up, and need some shoes that FIT not just "fit". I went into Dick's to try on and correctly size some shoes a couple weeks prior and was crossed between amused and annoyed at how little they knew. I asked for trail running shoes and was promptly shown hiking boots.
I was recommended The Running Well by an old friend. I went in, explained what I wanted and was shown several pair of shoes of different make and sizes. Even though there were half a dozen other people shopping, the staff stayed busy making sure everyone was taken care of and no one seemed to be rushed. It appears everyone that worked there actually enjoyed working there. That seems to make the difference between an relaxed enjoyable atmosphere and the bad vibe you get sometimes from other stores. After I got the shoes I wanted in the size I thought I needed, they encouraged me to go run in them to make sure they were what I wanted. I wound up coming back and exchanging them for a half size smaller. That's amazing! Thanks Tara, and everyone at The Running Well!
I was pretty lost trying to find quality running shoes in the northland, and I'm so happy this store came up in my google search. I thought 30 minutes until closing would give me enough time to consult and find the right shoes, but the amount of detail and time these guys put into each customer was pleasantly surprising. After the treadmill analysis of my form and foot placement, they brought out a variety of shoes of all price ranges and brands that I was encouraged to test for myself outside the store. Although I left with 2 pairs, I never felt pressured to buy the more expensive shoes. I've had them for a couple months now and couldn't be happier with my choices and owe it all to this store. They ended up staying over 45 minutes past closing to take care of multiple customers and never once complained or tried to rush anyone. I'll definitely be coming back in the future!
I spent two days looking for running shoes and went to 3 different stores. Every place either didn't have my size or couldn't help me with anything more than just getting shoes and leaving. This store is reminiscent of times past. When knowledgeable people actually helped the customer. They knew my shoe size just by looking, but still checked both feet for a proper size. I ran on the treadmill to analyze my stride which helped me get the right shoe for me. And the staff actually knew the differences between different shoes. I've never had a better shoe buying experience. Thanks so much. The person that helped me was named Ryan, thanks to him.
