Edit: This entire process with this franchise has continued to be a nightmare. For your own protection, DO NOT rent a car from this franchise. If I could get my spouse to quit renting from ALL Budget car rentals, I would. Rest assured though, our hard earned money will NEVER cross this franchises counter again. Despicable.

Avoid this location if possible, they are a "licensed" location and if you have problems corporate will not be able to help you very much. First off the main number redirects to a personal cellphone that is not usually on. I left messages about my problem no one ever returned my calls, eventually an employee at a Budget in the area gave me the regional manager's personal cell phone number. When I checked out my rental the agent kept trying to add on insurance though I repeatedly declined. They then changed the method of billing from a corporate account to my personal credit card without authorization, this is a big deal if your company has insurance for rentals and your credit card doesn't. Then a large deposit appeared on my card which never happens at any other Budget and was not explained ahead of time. Finally the price charged to my personal card was not correct. Tried to explain to the manager about the change of billing problems he had all sorts of little turnarounds and things to say that were not true; things that I was able to get on the phone with a corporate agent and verify as untrue. Overall a very shadily run place with abhorrent customer service. This location is not Fastbreak as well.

After reserving a car for our daughter, she wasn’t able to pick up the car because she didn’t have their desired documents (although she had a valid drivers license, was over 25, the reservation was in her name, she had full payment, etc.). We had to purchase a round trip ticket to satisfy their ridiculous documentation requirements, which more than doubled the cost of the car rental because they “had several vehicles stolen”. They also told us that they were a “private company” and didn’t have to fully disclose documentation requirements on the national website. Since our daughter was stranded in KC, they got their way, this poor service review, and a one-time-only customer.

I am a business traveler who uses Budget exclusively and have had more than a few bad experiences with this location. My last rental there was for less than a 24 hour period for a meeting near the airport. I received a bill for $1379 with no explanation for dates I was not in the state of MO. I am a Fastbreak member and was not able to get a receipt at check-in since the portable printer was not working and I did not have time to wait in line for a receipt. I turned the bill with the overcharges over to my company's travel team who sent it to AMEX for dispute. While Amex is processing this problem with Budget I get a collection letter for the full amount. Unbelievable. Additionally they rarely answer phone calls and when they do I have been disconnected, emails go into the abyss and are not answered. This situation with KC has made me and other executives at my company rethink our rental car preferences. Beware when renting here and make sure you are able to get a receipt before you leave their premises to better dispute charges.

I called to reserve a car to take myself and family to my Grandsons 2nd birthday party out of town. After receiving my confirmation number and payment made I waited until the next day to pick up the car. On Sunday, day agreed upon, I went to MCI airport to get my already paid for vehicle. At that moment a very young uneducated female proceeded to tell me she was sorry however they wouldn't be renting to me as I did not have required major credit card. That was first question I asked when speaking to "Fernando" the agent who processed my reservation and payment. Call was recorded for quality assurance purposes. I reinterated the card is a Visa debit card. Still reassuring me he processed payment. I went to my bank on Monday to verify all funds were released and became aware not only did he take payment but twice at two different amounts. When speaking with Maraya the management, she said she would send me a voucher for 50 dollars off on my next rental. Are you serious Budget? I will walk before I ever use any of my money or time to have any type of dealing with a company such as yours. You should be ashamed of yourselves on so many levels. A manager on site at the airport threatened to have me escorted of the property with the police. At that time I had no idea they had fraudulently taken payment from my account. I was devastated by there action. My Grandson Elijah will NEVER turn 2 again. Pathetic display of authority on the on site manager part and the representative on the phone with my bank representative and myself was ridiculously wrong in all most all her response. I use the word uneducated lightly when referring to Budget rental car. I hope people do research prior to renting from them as I would feel horrible if anything like what happened to me happen to other people who are trusting them like I did. Once again please don't rent from these people who tried to take my money without even renting a car from them. People should have to take accountability for there action whether it was a mistake or blatant theft. I want this to go viral as Budget rental car on site manager on Sunday October 29 laughed at me.

If I could give zero stars, I would. This is the worst car rental experience I have ever had. Upon returning the car that we had for 3 weeks for government work, and then renting the exact same car for a week of personal use, we were told that the car had hail damage. If that had been the case, we would have contacted our insurance, but because the car was NOT in fact involved in any storms that produced hail in the Mid Missouri area while we had the car, we know we just got taken for $700.00 plus the rental!! These folks waited until we were no longer using it for work, and as soon as it was on us personally, they produced mysterious damage that we were responsible for. If that is not a con, I don't know what is. In the future, I would prefer to walk, run, bike or hitchhike rather than use Budget Car Rental of Kansas City International Airport, and quite frankly, I would prefer that Budget Car Rental in general never saw another dime of ours or the governments money.
